An impressive architect-designed detached property which enjoys spectacular uninterrupted sea, loch and mountain views. Designed by Rural Design to capitalise on its location, The Longhouse offers a modern, energy efficient home, finished to an excellent standard.

Set in landscaped garden grounds with a detached outbuilding, the property is located in the north west of the Isle of Skye, in Husabost, Totaig a charming coastal crofting township.

Property Description

Situated on a prime site, with a panoramic view which takes in the Western Isles, Loch Dunvegan and the Cuillin, the sale of The Longhouse offers a rare and unique opportunity to purchase a detached dwellinghouse designed by Rural Design, Architects. Completed in 2008, the property presents a contemporary version of the traditional Scottish longhouse and was designed to offer a superb modern home, created to take full advantage of its position with expansive windows to the breath-taking views.

In excellent order throughout and beautifully presented, internally the property has been specifically designed to create a fantastic, flexible living space and enjoys well proportioned rooms. Benefitting from NorDan windows and doors, double glazing, air source heat pump central heating and a mechanical heat exchange and ventilation system, the property boasts many fantastic features including Siberian larch flooring, exposed Douglas Fir beams and columns, modern bathroom suites with electric underfloor heating and redwood internal doors to name but a few. The bright open-plan lounge area, which offers a fantastic HWAM wood burning stove set on slate tiles, fitted shelving and tremendous picture windows to the views, also gives access to two double bedrooms and a winter garden, with its vaulted glass ceiling and patio doors, creating a real feeling of being outside. The impressive kitchen and dining area, which is fitted with a quality kitchen and Rangemaster cooking range, leads to the raised decking area through a fully glazed door. On the upper level, there is a reading/craft area with dual aspect windows, flooding the space with natural light and a double bedroom.

The property’s spacious layout provides flexible accommodation and offers a fantastic family home. However it would also be ideally suited as an idyllic holiday home or as an opportunity to use as premium self-catering accommodation in a very buoyant holiday letting market.

Garden

The property enjoys beautifully landscaped and easily maintained garden grounds of half an acre which have been designed to look very natural with raised flowerbeds providing colour and interest. The remaining grounds are laid to lawn, featuring trees, shrubs and a small vegetable garden, whilst patio and decking areas located in the grounds capitalise on the best of the views. A driveway leads to the property and ample parking. There is also a superb detached workshop, with wood store and boxroom, with light and power.
